The college of arts at the University of Baghdad has announced that it has received the first UNESCO chair for studies on the prevention of genocide in the Islamic world with the approval of the central committee for educational, cultural and artistic organization of the United Nations.

Prof. Dr. Salah Fleifel al-Jabri, dean of the college stated that this coronation comes to honor the efforts of the deanship, professors and members for four years through the establishment of scientific activities including seminars, training workshops and international research cooperation, adding that this achievements the first of its kind in the world grants to Iraq and supports its efforts in field survey of humanitarian crimes in order to promote the culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence to combat violent extremism leading to terrorism and building intellectually sound societies culturally, socially and politically, as well as the opening of professional Diploma and MA studies in the field of peace-building in cooperation between the University of Innsbruck and the University of Baghdad.
