Assistant Prof. Dr. Wathiq Abdullah from the department of computer science at the college of education for pure and applied sciences (Ibn al-Haytham) participated in the international symposium on “Quality assurance and accreditation in higher technical and vocational education: challenges and opportunities” sponsored by NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology in India.

Dr. Wathiq presented a research paper entitled (Higher education in Iraq: challenges and future needs) in which he highlighted the most important problems and challenges facing the higher education in Iraq and identified the most important future needs. He noted that this vital sector has the potential to play an important role in overcoming the widening rifts inherent throughout the country and promoting long-term peace and stability as well finding solutions for the social, economic and political problems such as the security situation, lack of resources and uncertainties surrounding the new political atmosphere.
