The department of archaeology at the college of arts inaugurated the laboratory and library of WALADU Project in the presence of the Rector of the University Baghdad Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein, the Italian ambassador in Iraq Mr. Bono Antonio, the dean of the college of arts Salah Fleifel Ayid al-Jabri and a number of professors and researchers. The Rector stated during his speech that the cooperation between the University of Baghdad and the European universities will help to develop the skills of professors and students for the exploration and preservation of antiquities post the terrorist attacks faced by our country, as well as for the sake of refining their scientific skills.

The Italian ambassador and the representative of the European Union Mr. Bono Antonio clarified that Italy is committed to provide support to the Iraqi people and universities through ten Italian scholarships dedicated for archaeological explorations currently operating in Iraq to develop scientific cooperation with international universities. For his part, the dean of the college explained that this international project is funded by the European Union to be continued for three years to improve education and increase employment opportunities for undergraduate students, as well as to contribute in the development of research projects, teaching staff also the exchange of experiences with the European universities.
