The college of education for humanities (Ibn Rushd) held its 3rd international conference entitled (the reality of children’s rights in Iraq) in cooperation with the African Arab Council for Integration and Development under the slogan (Iraqi child: reality and ambitions). The aim of the conference was to uncover the reality of children’s rights in Iraq, diagnose the causes of child recruitment, as well as how to strengthen the role of media in upholding the principles of children’s rights. Dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Allawi Sadir Jazie stressed the need to upbringing children properly according to the spirit of generosity, kindness and goodness values as well as our Islamic and historical culture. The conference came up with a number of recommendations, which emphasized the need to adopt the law on the protection of orphans in Iraq, as well as the cooperation of governmental and non-governmental institutions for their protection, prohibition of trafficking of children and the guarantee of their rights in family and society.
