Faculty of dentistry holds courses in three different branches


The continuing education division at the faculty of dentistry, University of Baghdad held a number of courses in dental, basic sciences and treatment branches. The first lecture dealt with how to choose teeth color while the second lecture discussed the steps required to publish researches in sober global journals and the last one addressed the topic of dental treatment through the use of light fillings.

Scouting camp inauguration at the faculty of physical education for women


Events of the scouting camp for the first stage students started at the faculty of physical education and sports science for women, University of Baghdad in cooperation with Faraaheedi University College which lasted for three days. The camp included erection of tents by the use of ropes and this comes within their non-classroom activities for the purpose of enhancing their abilities and skills in dealing with other institutions as volunteers and coexistence in nature.

Al-Kindy College of medicine inaugurates a cultural book fair


Al-Kindy College of medicine at University of Baghdad inaugurated its annual book fair in the presence of dean of the college Prof. Dr. Mohammed al-Kirtas in the corridors of the faculty of dentistry. The fair included a collection of the latest medical books especially in dentistry and other publications in the field of medicine in general sponsored by a group of medical and social libraries under direct supervision of the deanship of the faculty of dentistry.


Faculty of dentistry participates in the 11th World Conference for Root Fillings in India


Dean of the faculty of dentistry, Prof. Dr. Hussein Faisal al-Hoizi participated in the 11th International Conference sponsored by the Asian Association of Root Fillings in New Delhi, India. Dr. Faisal al-Hoizi delivered a lecture entitled “Laterally Positioned Periapical Lesions by Treatment of Routine Endodontic”.

Conclusion of the scouting camp at the faculty of physical education for women


Events of the scouting camp for the first stage students were concluded at the faculty of physical education and sports science for women, University of Baghdad in cooperation Faraaheedi University College in the presence of the dean of the college Prof. Dr. Suhad Kassim Saeed and dean of Faraaheedi University College, Prof. Dr. Muaed Abd. Events of the third day included reciting of national poems, handicraft and plastic arts where the dean honored the instructors who participated in this camp. It is worth mentioned that this event witnessed the presence of head of follow-up and coordination department Dr. Ahmed al-Shammari and head of the department of sports education at Faraaheedi University College Prof. Dr. Najah Mahdi Shalash.


Book fair at the college of languages


The college of languages at University of Baghdad hosted a book fair that lasts for several days, sponsored by Hariri library at the college. The fair included thousands of English and French titles in the fields of linguistic studies, literary criticism, novel, story, drama, poetry, dictionaries such as Oxford and Mawrid dictionaries and encyclopedias. Wathiq Ibrahim Hussein stated that the initiative of Hariri library is a contribution to dissemination of knowledge and linguistic culture among university students of graduate and postgraduate studies. 


Al-Khwarizmi College of engineering organizes a visit to Baghdad International Fair


Department of life medicine engineering at the faculty of engineering, University of Baghdad organized a visit to the medical equipment exhibition held at Baghdad International Fair. The aim of the visit is to keep abreast with the work of life medicine engineer in global and local companies and identifying industrial developments. This visit can contribute in developing the applied reality of students and keeping pace with accelerating changes and communicating academic information directly in line with the technological development.


Seventh annual student conference at the faculty of engineering 


Department of the mechanical engineering at University of Baghdad held the 7th annual student conference at the faculty of engineering attended by Prof. Dr. Wadod Mohammed Tahir, Associate Dean for scientific affairs and postgraduate studies who delivered a speech on this occasion where he praised the prominent role of students in such scientific events. At the conclusion of the conference, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the top students in postgraduate and preliminary studies.


Student fair at the department of electrical engineering 


The department of electrical engineering at University of Baghdad held a student fair at the faculty of engineering to exhibit their products. The fair was opened by Dr. Wadod Tahir Mohammed accompanied by Dr. Iyad Abdul Halim, Associate Dean for student affairs, Dr. Tariq Ziad head of department of electronics and communications engineering, Dr. Nizar Hadi, head of department of electrical engineering. The students gave a detailed explanation of their scientific products and the attendants praised their efforts and wished them success in their scientific and practical lives.


Faculty of dentistry participates in the annual scientific conference


Deputy Minister of higher education for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Fazad Qasim, inaugurated the joint annual scientific conference of the faculty of dentistry at University of Baghdad and the Iraqi Dental Association that lasted for two days. The dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Hussein Faisal Al-Hoizi praised the extensive scientific participation in this forum where he gave a detailed explanation of the achievements of the college and its scientific level confirming twinning with sober world universities. For his part, chairman of the Iraqi dentists, Prof. Dr. Fakhri Al-Fatlawi referred to the efforts made through such academic conferences and symposia confirming that the Iraqi dentist owns a high reputation among his counterparts in the region. 


Faculty of media holds its 10th annual conference


Under the auspices of the Iraqi Private Banking Association, the faculty of media at University of Baghdad held its tenth annual scientific conference in the presence of Under-Secretary of higher education and scientific research for administrative affairs Dr. Mohammed Abd Attia al-Sarraj and the scientific assistant of Rector of University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif with the participation of researchers from different Iraqi universities. The conference was held under the slogan (the role of means of communication in promoting sustainable development) that aims to highlight the role of the faculty of media in scientific research and community development as well as to promote the reality of information and communication and to exchange experiences, propose and discuss possible synergies among the various media organizations. The conference included four main themes: the first one was entitled (the role of the press in promoting sustainable development), the second (the role of radio and television journalism in promoting sustainable development), the third (public relations and how to promote sustainable development), the fourth (the role of new media in spreading a culture of sustainable development). Dean of the faculty of media, Prof. Dr. Hashim Hassan al-Tamimi expressed his thanks and gratitude to all who contributed this event to sustain sustainable development, fighting corruption, human and environment conservation in Iraq.


Faculty of medicine holds a symposium in cooperation with MSF


Faculty of medicine at University of Baghdad held a symposium in cooperation with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) aimed at shedding light on the activities of this organization in Iraq and other countries and promoting cooperation with the academic community in Iraq to exchange experiences and to publicize its international humanitarian role as an non-governmental medical organization that provide high quality medical services and care to people affected by crises. The symposium was attended by Prof. Dr. Ali Kamel Al-shalji, dean of the faculty of dentistry, Prof. Dr. Hussein Faisal Al-Hoizi and head of MSF mission in Iraq Mr. Sylvain Krolo and his entourage.


Italian delegation in the host of Natural History Museum


Natural History Center and Museum at University of Baghdad hosted a delegation of the Italian embassy under the chairmanship of the Italian ambassador’s assistant and embassy members. The visiting delegation kept abreast with various artistic exhibits at the museum where the delegation was impressed by this preserved wealth and invited students and researchers to visit the museum to see its valuable assets.

Student visit to Basra


Department of petroleum engineering at the faculty of engineering, University of Baghdad organized a scientific trip for the students of the fourth stage accompanied by a group of professors at the department to Basra Governorate within the framework of cooperation with South Oil company ( SOC) as an opportunity for the university students to explore the practical life of engineers in this field to enhances their scientific knowledge. The students visited drilling towers in Zubair as well as repair and maintenance workshops in North Rumaila fields and they expressed their great delight for participation in this trip.

Rector of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool obtained a book of appreciation from His Excellency Minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq Al-Essa for his active role and contribution in studying and amendment of the articles of the law of the Iraqi ministry of higher education and scientific research.


University of Baghdad holds the Fourth Annual Job Fair


Division of rehabilitation and employment at University of Baghdad announced under the auspices of the modern age institute for training and development and the BCI Samsung Telecommunications company the 4th annual job fair for training the graduates in the attendance of several public and private companies in the Iraq on Sunday, 2017/5/14 at the Central Library, University of Baghdad from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are invited to attend this fair.


College of education (Ibn al-Haytham) participates in the international renewable energy conference in Lebanon


Faculty of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haitham) at University of Baghdad participated in through two professors of the department of physics in the international conference on techniques and renewable energy, environment and sustainability materials (TMREES 2017) held in Lebanon. The researchers submitted seven papers published in World Energy Procedia in addition to publishing researches in global journals with Scopus effect.


Researchers from the faculty of fine arts participate in the international arts conference in Egypt


Assistant Prof. Dr. Lubna Asaad Abdul Razak, an instructor at the department of design at the college of fine arts, University of Baghdad participated in the 3rd international conference for plastic arts held by the faculty of fine arts, Egypt through the paper entitled (Design synonym in industrial products). Assistant Prof. Dr. Nawal Mohsen Ali participated in this event with a paper entitled (Virtual emancipation in contemporary industrial product).


College of education (Ibn Rushd) holds its international geographic conference


Department of geography at the faculty of education for humanities (Ibn Rushd), in cooperation with the Development Center for Studies and Training held its international geographic conference under the slogan (Sustainable development: a geographical perspective). The conference aimed at demonstrating the intellectual background of the emergence of the concept of sustainable development over time and to diagnose the role of geography in development thinking through its spatial dimensions in developing countries, including Iraq. The conference witnessed a great participation of instructors and researchers from various Iraqi universities with (58) research papers in sustainable development applications, sustainable development from a global perspective, the role of the sensor geographic information systems in achieving sustainable development, sustainable development of water resources, sustainable tourism development, scientific research and sustainable development and the role of geography in sustainable development. This conference was concluded by granting discretionary certificates for those participants for their quest in the success of its proceedings.


University of Baghdad inaugurates the fourth job fair


President of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasul inaugurated the fourth job fair sponsored by the division of rehabilitation and employment at the presidency of University of Baghdad with the participation of a large number of private sector companies in various fields. The Rector called during the opening of the fair to attract the distinguished students while the Associate Rector for scientific affairs Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif that this division seeks continually to develop the capacity of the graduates according to the requirements of the labor market, so more than (200) job vacancies were offered during this event.


Associate Rector for scientific affairs receives his counterpart of University of Northampton


Assistant Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif, Associate president of University of Baghdad for scientific affairs received his counterpart Associate Rector of University of Northampton, Prof. Dr. Nick Petford. During this visit the two sides reviewed the latest developments on the scientific scene and how to revitalize the ties of cultural relations and research between the two universities where the guests were pleased to visit the department of earth science at the college of science to keep abreast with the Iraqi-German Laboratory and Baghdad University Museum and at the conclusion of this visit, Associate Rector for scientific affairs dedicated the university shield to the British delegation.

Faculty of engineering holds its 7th scientific conference


Faculty of engineering at University of Baghdad held its seventh regional conference which is considered as the first international one entitled (modern trends in engineering and sustainability) aimed at providing and documenting modern valuable information to exchange of experience in the fields of engineering and technology to serve the progress of our scientific research since it is considered as the cornerstone of advancement and durability of development to provide the suitable climate for researchers and engineers in various sectors to contribute in theoretical and applied studies. The administrative agent of the ministry of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abd Attia al-Saraj stated in his speech that the academic scientific institutions need a meaningful scientific dialogue that can be achieved through various methods such as theses specialized conferences since the international community takes a great care to the importance of sustainable development for its role in promoting the Iraqi economic prosperity and social wellbeing. Rector of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa  Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool confirmed that the faculty of engineering plays a major role inside and outside Iraq since its founding despite our current circumstances and challenges experienced by our country to opens up new scientific horizons according to the ministry’s directives. Dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar Neima shed light in her speech on the college quest and it is worth mentioned that this conference was attended by representatives of the three Presidencies and Associates Rector for scientific and administrative affairs and a number of deans of colleges, heads of departments and college students.


Faculty of science receives a delegation of University of Northampton


Dean of the faculty of science at University of Baghdad, Fadel Abdl Risan al-Rubaie accompanied by Assistant Rector for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif as well as members of College Council received a delegation from University of North Hampton. This visit included a tour among the laboratories at the department of earth science and other departments where the British delegation expressed its satisfaction and admiration for the college potential and was honored by the college shield.


President of University of Baghdad visits the department of petroleum engineering


President of University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasul accompanied by dean of the college of engineering Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar visited the department of petroleum engineering where they attended a symposium held by second-year students on oil engineering. The symposium was attended by Associate dean for student affairs and registration Assistant Prof. Dr. Iyad Abdul Halim and head of department of petroleum engineering Assistant Prof. Dr. Faleh al-Mehdawi and a number of professors. The symposium began with a welcoming address by the head of department, then the students delivered related and it is worth mentioned that this event witnessed discussions with the audience. At the end of the symposium, dean of the college presented a certificate of appreciation to the Rector for his sincere efforts in the service and development of our university while head of the department of petroleum engineering dedicated a discretionary certificate to Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar for her support and continuing efforts to develop their college level.

College of physical education organizes its annual scout camp


Scout camp unit at the faculty of physical education and sports science at University of Baghdad held in collaboration with the department of theoretical sciences and professors of scouting at the college its Iraqi annual scout camp as partial requirements of scouting education during this academic year. The camp was organized among the orchards of palm trees with suitable facilities such as electric power, water and other services according to international standards.


College of fine arts concludes its international film and television festival


Faculty of fine arts at University of Baghdad concluded the events of its international film and television festival with the attendance of Arab and international participants. Dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Qasim Munis welcomed the gathering and praised the students’ voluntary efforts in this great event that witnessed the presentation of (40) short films and 25 Arab and foreign films. Head of the department of film and television arts, Dr. Maher Majid Ibrahim gave a speech where he thanked the students and the committees that contributed to the preparation of this festival and he dedicated discretionary awards to the participants and to the decrees unit at the ministry of defense for its active participation in this quest.


Students of college of engineering visits Zawraa stadium


Professors and students of the fourth stage in the department of architecture engineering at University of Baghdad under the auspices of the ministry of youth and sports / voluntary work department visited Zawraa stadium under construction to keep abreast with the designs and details of work there that included a suite with 40 rooms with integrated services.


Faculty of dentistry holds a joint conference with the Dental Association


Faculty of dentistry at University of Baghdad held its annual joint scientific conference with the Iraqi Dental Association that witnessed several lectures and more than 90 events during which the latest scientific and technological productions were presented in addition to a specialized exhibit. Dean of the college of dentistry, Prof. Dr. Hussein Faisal al-Hiwaizi addressed in his speech the achievements of the college as well as its one hundred and eighty activities during the academic year such as various conferences, seminars, workshops and emphasizing its quest to open up prospects for joint cooperation with the UK prestigious faculties in the fields of medicine and dental technology. The conference witnessed the attendance of eminent personalities from the ministries of higher education and health, notably the representative of the minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Fouad Kassim, Rector Associate for scientific affairs at University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Osama Fadel Abdul Latif, Advisor of the minister of health, Prof. Dr. Abdul Amir al-Mukhtar, Captain Doctors, Prof. Dr. Fakhri al-Fatlawi as well as deans of Iraqi faculties of dentistry and teaching staff.


The Canadian Health Sciences Institute honors the dean of genetic engineering institute with the highest international medal


The Canadian Institute of Health Sciences awarded the dean of genetic engineering and biotechnologies institute at University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hussein al-Faisal with the highest international medal granted to senior researchers in Iraq. This tribute came in view of his efforts and valuable contribution in the success of Cancer Conference held recently in Basra where Dr. Abdul Hussein al-Faisal presented a paper entitled “discussion of strategies to combat and treat cancer & the role of partners”.


President of University of Baghdad as Chairman of the European project for energy building


Deanship of the faculty of arts, University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Theoretical framework for the EU energy building project” in cooperation with University of Bologna, Italy which was chaired by president of University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool. The workshop witnessed discussing the stages of EU project implementation which included the departments of archeology and history at the faculties of arts in Baghdad, Qadisiyah and Kufa universities with the aim of holding courses and implementing fellowship programs for professionals in this regard, updating curricula so as to combine theoretical information and fieldwork. The attendants addressed also matters related to future visions and objectives such as establishing an international network of partners to support joint cooperation and continuation of activities, means, criticism and evaluation. It is worth mentioning that this event was attended by dean of the college and his associates, heads of departments of archeology and history, representative of Baghdad Governorate Council and a number of professors at the college.
