Faculty of education (Ibn al-Haytham) holds a symposium on the protection of Tigris and Euphrates


Department of biology at the faculty of education for pure sciences (Ibn al-Haytham), Baghdad University held a scientific symposium entitled “together to protect Tigris and Euphrates from pollution” within the cultural season of this department in the presence of assistant Prof. Dr. Khaled Fahad Ali, dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Jasim Abdul Aziz Hamadi, the technical agent for the ministry of environment as well as the participation of a number of biological researchers and a number of lecturers from inside and outside the college towards drawing attention to the importance of maintaining these rivers since they are the lifeline of Iraq and calling for activating resolutions concerning water conservation of contaminants through integrated plans in this regard, then encouraging researchers at Iraqi universities and relevant ministries to conduct research and studies dealing with this topic.  The participants discussed matters such as industrial projects and power plants that rely on water sources as well as the aesthetic role or rivers when passing through towns, villages, orchards and farms on the shore. Then they dealt with the case of neglecting these rivers in recent years and the pollution they witnessed as a result of many human and governmental inconsistent activities and the lecturers stressed in their recommendations on the role of community culture in Iraqi society in simplified ways through planting environmental concepts and culture among people.
