Symposium and posters fair on pollution in Tigris and Euphrates


College of science for women organized a symposium and a posters fair on “preservation of Tigris and Euphrates rivers from pollution”  that included three lectures that addressed the topic of pollution from multiple points of view where the first lecture was entitled ” water health: processing methods and evaluation of water purification plants located on Tigris in Baghdad by using Nano-materials” delivered by Assistant Prof. Dr. Kazim Hashim Yassin from Mustansiriya University, faculty of science, department of biology. The second lecture was entitled “pollution of Euphrates: reality and solutions” delivered by Dr. Adel Hussein Talib from the faculty of science for women where le dealt with this river, its diversity, the most important organisms in that are prone to extinction and the most environmental problems, the most important sources of contamination and how to reduce or prevent it. Recommendations were presented for paying attention to environmental education, enhancing scientific awareness to establish an center for environmental analytics. The third and the last lecture was entitled “Tigris river safety assessment using water quality directories” delivered by Zahraa Zahrawi from University of technology, Environmental Research Center where the researcher noted that the use of indications of water quality for control of Tigris is something necessary, as well as to provide data to identify water quality. At the conclusion of the symposium, a contest was held to choose the best poster concerned and certificates were distributed to the participants and to the winning poster by dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Ahlam Mohammad Farhan.
