Faculty of arts at Baghdad University joins Sakura Association


Within the academic efforts to cooperate with the international institutions, the faculty of arts at Baghdad University joined Japanese Sakura Association for universities and institutions teaching Japanese in the world in the presence of a representative from the Japanese embassy in Iraq and Dr. Salah Flaifil Ayed al-Jabri, dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Wahid al-Qaisi, director of (JHSP) program for Japanese graduate studies, Prof. Dr. Osama Abdul Rahman al-Duri, head of department of history, Prof. Dr. Salam Abd Ali al- Abadi, associate dean for administrative affairs. This procedure comes for achieving the aim of serving the intellectual and cultural movement in Iraq and expanding cooperation with Japanese universities through multiple global openness and scientific activities to attain excellence for our mother university and all Iraqi universities. In the same context, the college of arts and department of history started their academic efforts for convergence between Iraq and Japan since 2005 through dispatching graduate researchers to Japan and holding seven international conferences in Iraq and Japan to make benefit from the Japanese experience in construction and reconstruction to establish a generation of specialized researchers in Japanese studies in Iraq. It is worth mentioned that the faculty of arts at University of Baghdad organized the 5th Iraqi- Japanese forum under the banner (10 years of academic and economic relations between Iraq and Japan: visions and prospects) during the period (13-18) of December, 2015 with the participation of Iraqi and Japanese professors, researchers and specialists at University of Basrah.
