Educational lecture about the harms of smoking at the college of physical education for women

  The college of physical education and sport science for women at Baghdad University held a lecture about the dangers of smoking. Prof. Dr. Suad Sebti, an instructor at the college delivered a lecture entitled “together towards anti-smoking” that gave a detailed explanation about tobacco, its origin and the materials contained in cigarettes such as nicotine and other chemicals that lead to addiction for being highly toxic materials, in addition to the fact that it is included in a large number of insecticides. The lecturer stressed on the harms of smoking since it is the leading cause of deadly diseases in the world, like lung cancer where the rates of mortality for smokers are more than 23 times when compared with the non-smokers, as well as mouth, throat cancer, esophageal, gallbladder, pancreatic, kidney, prostate cancer and others. The lecture discussed mechanisms to quit smoking that need a special program and the patient’s decision to stop completely and radically, so the doctor would give the patient antidepressant antibiotics and still the psychological support and exercise remain the best factor to give up smoking and maintaining health.
