College of mass media at Baghdad University in cooperation with the center for environmental research at the university of technology held a training workshop on environmental media administrated by assistant prof. Dr. Shukria kokez al-Saraj from the college of mass media and prof. Mukdad Abdul Wahab al-Khatib from the center for environmental research. The opening session was attended by instructors, correspondents, the dean, Dr. Hashim Hassan who stressed on the need to combat environmental pollution and stated that raising the community awareness about the dangers of environmental pollution is in charge of the ministry of environment since citizens are subjected to slow suicide without even knowing it, and that the reason behind that is the failure in performance at the ministry of environment. Director of the environmental research center, Dr. Abdul Hamid Mohammed Jawad delivered a speech noting that the aim of this session is the embodiment of mutual coordination among academic institutions in service of society. The session included a delegation from the department of media at the university where intensive lectures were delivered for five days by qualified professors and at the end of the session, certificates of appreciation were granted for the trainees by the president of university of technology.
