Market research and consumer protection center at Baghdad University held a seminar on food addiction in which the researcher at the department of goods evaluation, assistant teacher Rafat Ahmed Moussa delivered a lecture that addressed the term of addiction recited in recent years, perhaps as a psychological behavioral phenomenon at the level of modern human societies. the lecture showed that food addiction means an irresistible propensity to repeat the act of eating even without feeling hungry, so that people who suffer from food addiction feel disempowered before the pressing need for excessive food, suffering mostly from obesity as well as health, psychological and social problems, because of weight gain that leads further to the loss of control over eating. Other studies have indicated that the main causes of food addiction are feeling bored, work stress and bad mood. Eating could be linked to family style since sometimes thay eat badly and in some cases parents use food as a kind of expressing to their children how much they love them. There are other forms of food addiction such as excessive speed when eating, situational eating and food storage. One of the most important tips to overcome food addiction is to record food intake over several days, review and analyze food diary, eating slowly, good chewing, gradual reduction of food type that causes addiction, also eating small meals with small dishes and the most important tip is exercise.
